Wisdom Teeth Extraction: Procedure Overview
To ensure you are relaxed and comfortable throughout your procedure, our office offers oral and IV sedation options. Local anesthesia will also be used to ensure that the extraction area is numbed. As the first step, the doctor will make an incision in your gums. The tooth may need to be separated into smaller pieces for easier removal. Once your tooth is safely removed, dissolvable sutures will be used to close the incision and gauze will be placed to control bleeding
Patients will need to arrange for someone to drive them home after the procedure. Patients should rest for the remainder of the day. Some patients can return to normal activities the day after surgery. Full recovery can take up to two weeks. One of our doctors will provide recovery guidelines that should be followed closely.
